“Before I took this class I hated writing. The fact that my major required me to take this class really made me upset (at first). But Professor Siperstein made writing enjoyable for me. He is one of the best professors I have ever had in all my years of education. He goes above and beyond what any teacher has ever done for me. I struggle with writing, and he took the extra time to point me in the right direction and help me be successful in the class. Because of him my whole mindset about writing has completely changed, and I have become such a better writer. I have been able to apply the skills I have learned to all my other classes. His class has made such a huge impact on my college career.”

“Stephen is a great teacher. He made the theme of the class environmentally based, which I was slightly nervous about as I had the preconceived ideas that I didn’t really care much about the environment. But honestly, after taking his class, I appreciate the environment and the writing process in general so much more. A class that I was so nervous to take ended up being one of my favorite classes so far.”

“Stephen reminded me why I love to write and helped me to improve my writing at the same time.”

“Stephen is incredibly passionate about climate change and English. Combining them just brought so much more to the class. He was very open to our questions, comments, and opinions. He often said he loves all our questions about climate change because it forces him to think about it in a different way, causing him to continue to learn as he teaches the course.”

“I loved the course and am glad that I took it because now I know so much about climate change. I never thought I would learn so much information and be able to retain it like this. I did not want to take the course originally, but I am so glad I did. I hope this course is taught again so that other students can get a change to experience and learn about climate change so that they can develop a desire to make a change the way I have.”

Stephen was very passionate about what he was teaching, and he was always open to new ideas. He also had an interest not just teaching the material, but in wanting us to learn. He cared about getting to know each of us as a person.

Professor Siperstein was excellent at explaining methods of effective writing and researching about different topics. He truly opened me up to the different resources I have available at the college, and I am a better student because of him.
